We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

There is an arrogance that comes with being a farmer in his 20-30s who knows with family they have a backstop if things go south. They won’t publicly admit it, I wouldn’t have. But that arrogance gets replaced by a lot of stress when you realize you are the backstop of the farm.
