(1/2) Today, for #CareerDevelopmentMonth, we remember Alfred T. Mays, who joined #JNJ as a scientist in 1970. After developing a number of patents for the company and going on to win a Johnson Medal—#JNJ’s highest scientific honor—he transitioned into a general management role.

With today being #NationalStemDay & November being #CareerDevelopmentMonth, we’re celebrating Edith Von Kuster, #JNJ’s 1st female scientist. She was recruited to #JNJ by Scientific Director Fred Kilmer in 1908, when it was very unusual for women to have science jobs in industry.

#DYK: In the early 1900s, #JNJ employed 9 glassblowers to produce packaging for sterile sutures & ligatures. These sterile surgical products were produced under strict antiseptic conditions, & sealable glass containers allowed them to maintain their sterility. #MedTechMonday
