The visit concluded at the Applied Research Center with Newport News @MayorPhilJones. The city donated the 122,000-sq-ft building to @ENERGY in 2023. It is part of a $90.3M renovation and expansion project, the first at Jefferson Lab with delegated project authority.

What does it take to see inside a proton? Simona Malace helped build ECal by leading the installation of its photomultiplier tubes, data cabling and commissioning. ECal is mapping the proton’s internal structure, one scattered electron at a time. https://t.co/a5r8JfIGDG

A quarter century ago, our operators skillfully pushed the boundaries of SRF technology - teasing out 6.07 GeV electron beams from a 4 GeV design. Those 50% higher-energy beams set the stage for CEBAF's 12 GeV upgrade, opening new quantum realms for exploration!
