I’m glad to join the Office of @SenMarkey as Regional Director in Western and Central MA! I’ve long admired, valued, and supported the Senator’s work, and am thankful for the incredible opportunity to serve the people of Massachusetts as a member of his official staff.

Thank you to The Reminder for the opportunity to share some thoughts in these final days of my term.

It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of Springfield, and I’m proud to leave a record of commitments kept along with a strengthened institution to serve our city for years to come.

Our Working Groups have allowed for our local government to draw upon the wealth of diverse experience that exists in the City of Springfield, and open up the doors of City Hall to allow for residents to take a meaningful role in policy development.

This week I was glad to welcome the members of our 2023 Resident Working Groups to the City Council Chamber to present their recommendations and be recognized for their service to the City of Springfield.

The story of Springfield didn’t begin with any one of us, and it won’t end with us either, nor is it defined by any one moment in time. But while we’re here, let’s keep working to leave it better than it was when we arrived. I know I still will, and I hope you all will too.

…the City Council Staff who ran our operations, the friends and mentors that offered guidance and support, and my own family for standing by me, especially my wife Emila and my mom Elizabeth.

I’m proud of the work we did there, and forever grateful to all those who supported it, from the thousands of voters who shared our vision, to the hundreds of volunteers that campaigned on behalf of our ideals, my campaign team who worked tirelessly….

As I presided over my final meeting last night and received my Honorary Gavel, I reflected on some of the real results we were able to deliver together by building strong coalitions and relationships, and the commitments that were so important to me to keep to our community.

I’m thankful to the people of Springfield for the honor to serve as your City Councilor for the last six years, and to my colleagues for the opportunity to serve in leadership, first as Vice President, and then as President. 🧵

It was a great honor to preside over the dedication of E. Henry Twiggs Way this afternoon alongside the Twiggs Family and all those who called Councilor Twiggs a friend, colleague, and ally.
