By legalizing physician-assisted suicide, New York would formally concede that suffering can justify ending one’s life—a dangerous and macabre message that life may cease to be worth living once it becomes sufficiently painful. Read more from @JKetcham91:

Outstanding tribute to @CardinalDolan by my friend Tim Busch of @NapaInstitute in @nypost: “Even as a prince of the Church, he was always a man of the people,” embodying “the best of a parish priest.” Thank you for your ministry to the Church and our city, Your Eminence.

One of the arguments for rescheduling is that we need it for research. Not only is this not true; we also already have decades of research on marijuana's medical applications. It mostly shows that marijuana doesn't have many medical applications.

This study will stir the pot. It does seem like weed as a substance particularly hard to study and pin down. How do you dose something you smoke? From what I remember (my weed days are way in the past) every time I used it I felt something different (mostly not enjoyable!)

From @JKetcham91: In the first half of the year, the city’s private sector added only 956 jobs, compared with 66,000 in the first half of 2024. https://t.co/tl2JZzGPiC 2014, de Blasio inherits a robust, resilient NYC economy. Easy mode. 2026 will be hard mode.

NYC’s race has reached India! Insightful @EconomicTimes interview with Prof. Greg Conti of @ManhattanInst & Princeton: “[Mamdani’s] program is a strange mix of grandiose claims about bringing equality to New York…with fairly minor technocratic fixes, like extending childcare.”

NEW IN PIRATE WIRES: What can Zohran Mamdani really do as mayor? Attempting to pass his lofty policy proposals will likely set the stage for a barrage of court battles and funding fights... #1) “Freeze the rent” The mayor in NYC doesn’t set rent; the Rent Guidelines Board does.

NEW: The next mayor of NYC ran on a platform of freezing the rent, free buses, and city-run grocery stores. But does Mamdani have the legal authority to actually do what he’s promised? @CharlesFLehman and @JKetcham91 take a closer look 👇 https://t.co/AXO1DAnYfM

Each time we think the horrific virus of anti-Semitism has been extirpated, it reappears. A plea to my fellow Catholics--especially Catholic young people: Stay a million miles from this evil. Do not let it infect your thinking. The Church has utterly repudiated it. Do the same.
