Hours after Kennedy’s assassination, NBC newscaster Chet Huntley spoke about the “ominous and sickening popularity of hatred” in the United States. A viewer wrote to him thanking him for his words, hoping that people would learn of the futility of hatred.

On November 22, 1963, President and Mrs. Kennedy continued their visit to Texas, and traveled to Dallas. As they rode through the city, shots were fired. The motorcade rushed to the nearest hospital, but the wound was mortal.

62 years ago on November 17, 1962, JFK and President Eisenhower dedicated Dulles Airport, the first airport in the world designed for jet aircraft. Its now-iconic main terminal was designed by architect Eero Saarinen.
