What would be really useful is if the US Government gave a big grant to the Concrete Preservation Institute who are doing a such an amazing job restoring the historic buildings and preventing them crumbling into SF Bay.

There is some genuinely exciting stuff taking place in the UK space sector but I make the usual caveat with the Size and Health report: of the total income in the space sector (£18.6bn), a little under half is DTH TV. It's essentially Sky TV subscriptions.
Our latest Size and Health report of the UK space sector has been released, which shows that:. 🛰️ Space and satellite services are worth £454 billion to the economy. 🚀 Number of space organisations rose to 1,907. 💼 Employment in space sector up by 7%

I reported quite a bit on the "space jump" story, getting to know Felix, etc. I was commentating in the London studio on the big day, talking to pictures time-delayed by 60secs in case of disaster. But I knew he'd jumped when I heard the gasp of studio gallery in my ear piece.

To clarify, b/c I misread the FN release. INVICTUS will be a platform to test various hypersonic technologies for UK/Europe. Anyone with a hypersonic propulsion proposal could bid to use it. Obvs, some ex-RE staff are involved but it's not obvious their SABRE tech will be.
After Reaction Engines went bankrupt we were wondering who would acquire their technology and whether they'd still be interested in space planes. "Frazer-Nash has announced it is leading a new research programme, known as INVICTUS, to develop a comprehensive concept design for a

And here it is, folks. Hinted at by Macron in his speech to both houses of the UK parliament earlier this week. The British government is joining the French government in pumping up @EutelsatGroup / OneWeb. The UK should be leveraging OneWeb for all it's worth.
The United Kingdom is set to participate in the contemplated capital increase alongside our core shareholders. With the UK entering for a total of €163.3 million, this expanded €1.5 billion operation reinforces our strategy and secures the financing of our growth in LEO.

2 million sq km is the size of Saudi Arabia. It would take one of these vessels 180 years to map the entire ocean floor, but with a fleet you could accomplish the task very rapidly. It really is time for an ocean equivalent to Project Apollo @seabed2030.
A few weeks ago, I revealed a plan to design and build a 23-meter, hyper-efficient ocean mapping vessel. It would have a Kongsberg EM124 sonar, crew of just 1-2, and semi-autonomously map, potentially, over 2 million sq km per year. Hoping other countries or NGOs may buy one too.
