President Biden should resign as an act of protest tomorrow so Kamala Harris could be sworn in as the first female president until January. That would make Trump 48 and ruin that stupid hat of his. Can we get this trending.

The jaw-dropping mess of UK higher education is starkly revealed by a series of news stories all on the @timeshighered website in the last week or so: 1.) There are job cuts right across the sector (44 universities and counting):

Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy: more than car and oil industries together. They employ 2.3million people. To cut funding is fudge-brained, cack-hearted thinking pitched very much at the highest level of economic self-harm.

THREAD: What is happening in UK universities is astonishing. Right now about quarter of universities are laying off staff. Almost all universities expect to make a loss this year. And the entire thing is happening in an effort to deceive the population about migration statistics.

"students from poorer backgrounds may be hardest hit: they’re disproportionately likely either to go to post-92 institutions, or to choose the nearest university so they can save on rent by living at home. If it scraps the course they wanted, what then"

@TeemuTaira Oh god this is horrific. Did you know at Goldsmiths our management gave us documents for our redundancy process that had left in “University of Kent” by accident??? 🤦🏾‍♀️ Cut & paste job being done to follow your suit. Solidarity ❤️✊🏿🔥

My university is proposing that from now on research should only form 10% of our workload. So glad to know that senior management think doing research is some kind of optional extra for academics, bet that will really pay off in the next REF

I’ve spent my entire higher education at The University of Kent. Despite topping lists for research excellence and student satisfaction, Kent is shutting down entire courses in the Arts and Humanities. Please read and sign this petition to save these important subjects… 1/3
