1100 turkey and cheese sandwiches, 525 beans, chicken and rice meals, thousands of fruit, oatmeal, snacks and cereal all ready for our first delivery tomorrow. 32,000 homemade meals made by us are going to be needed outside of the shelf stable items for the summer.
#FeedTheKids
The food is arriving! 2500lbs of whole chickens and milk we loaded onto the donated reefer truck. 1600lbs of potatoes just arrived. Tons more on its way.

Hey “John” when you mail my wife a letter comparing food insecure kids to wild animals being fed, put your fucking last name and return address. Disrespectfully, all of Team Toups but mostly me.
Amanda said to me the other day that her activism was going to get me punched in the face and I said fucking bring it. If us wanting to feed kids makes you want to threaten us and our staff. You don’t realize how nuts my staff is. You really don’t want this smoke.
We are going to organize having voter registrations at the restaurant weekly through the summer during the two hour period we feed food insecure families. Hollar at your boy if you have experience registering voters.
On a positive note, Amanda and friends made 700 candy bags today. We have a donated refrigerated truck and a box truck with five pallets of water. All the food is coming in the morning. We are ready. 1500 Nola humans will have Easter dinner. We all gonna be alright.
Tomorrow is our second delivery day! 3186 meals to 531 food insecure kids over 200 families and 45 routes throughout the city! We thank everyone for the fundraising, volunteering and well wishes. 60,000 meals over the summer is no small task but my team is up for it!

It’s not a crime to be poor. These are largely working poor families with insecure transportation. The crime is that America, the most powerful nation on earth has failed to have a greater social safety net when it comes to food.
Why aren't the parents of these children taking responsibility for feeding them? Why do we allow so many children to grow up in households who refuse to feed their own children?
🚨BREAKING: It has now been confirmed that the the aid workers targeted by Israel were travelling in a “deconflicted zone” in two armoured vehicles that were branded with the WCK logo and that it had *coordinated their movements with the Israeli military*…

We received a very nice handwritten letter and a $200 check from an elderly couple in the mail encouraging us to keep speaking out and feed the people. Sometimes humanity can be so fucking beautiful.
I want everyone to know, Amanda dm’d several hometown celebrities for auction items to benefit

@juviethegreat
answered and is coming through with an item!
The news on this app is pissing me off so here’s my favorite pic of French Quarter Fest. It was also the day we found the Meatery building, 13 years ago. Y’all have fun this weekend!
A very special shout out to all the volunteer delivery drivers. So many showed up that we actually had too many at one point. Thank you! 1500 people are eating Easter dinner tomorrow because of everyone who helped. Drivers, donators, volunteers and staff. Thank you!
#FeedTheKids
Toups Family Meal is officially underway. 18 hours in and the need is so great that we worry about being able to even make a dent. 450 kids as of four hours ago. Pass around and share if you can. Amanda and I are hopeful we can figure this out one way or another.
#feedthekids
A few realizations after the first 6500 meals went out to the kids….I knew the East would be a hot spot for food insecurity. I had no idea how bad it is in Algiers. If you’re out that way, check in on your neighbors.
We are formally filing our 5013C this week. I couldn’t be more proud of what our team has been able to accomplish recently and over the years. Time to take it to the next level.

Second full week of
@toupsfamilymeal
we are at 12.8k meals having been delivered to 533 food insecure kids from almost 200 families. 45 routes with multiple stops across New Orleans. Huge shout out to my staff, our delivery drivers and those who have donated!
Here’s my boiled crawfish method and recipe. The Cajun way is different from the nola way. Nola is very protective of its way and so are the Cajuns. I’ll be boiling at the house tomorrow.
I’m very excited to have had the honor of being asked to be your King of Krewe du Vieux this year! Now tell me what inappropriate throws you want pinged at your head!

Thank you to the 80 volunteer delivery drivers who will be getting Easter dinner groceries to food insecure families. About 35% of the 1500 people needed transportation. This is the data we are gathering this afternoon for Family Meal everyday through the summer.
We just came from a Kiwanis meeting where we were invited to speak about our Feed The Kids initiative, multiple groups across the city and people from both political parties came together and supported us. I’m more optimistic than ever we can get the kids fed.
As we get ready to start helping bridge the food gap with the food insecure in nola this summer. Help us understand exactly what will ease this burden the best and most efficiently.
@IsaacToups
We need to help adults delay parenthood until after they are married and employed, instead of pilling on reward after reward for those who CHOOSE to make poor decisions. These parents should be asking for jobs instead of asking other people to fulfill their responsibilities.
“I just can’t bring myself to vote for Biden” is only something uttered by people whose privilege will protect them from a Trump presidency’s outcomes.
On this Trans Day of Visibility, my heart overflows with love and appreciation for the transgender and non-binary individuals who grace our lives. Your courage in being true to yourselves inspires us all. (1)
Close to 700 kids already signed up for
@toupsfamilymeal
. We aren’t going to be able to help Jefferson parish families this summer. We will have to focus on New Orleans. It kills us to make this decision but we are just not big enough.
I’m glad they’re accepting the funds. It won’t be enough. It’s $40 per kid with a $120 max per family. Toups Family Meal will be partnering with orgs such as Second Harvest to try and bridge the gap as much as we can this summer and whenever and wherever we are needed afterwards.
Summer food program for poor children in Louisiana will move forward after legislators reach deal. Rep Jack McFarland and Senate President Cameron Henry played key roles

Got a call from my contact at the Saints yesterday. I thought I was about to get fussed for retweeting some petty Saints tweets yesterday. I do a couple charity events per year with them. She just wanted to connect us with an important org that wants to help us feed the kids.

reminder that this badass will be on the news again tonight talking about how we are going to feed the kids over Easter and this whole summer. She’s taught me so much over 25 years. I didn’t use to believe food was political but unfortunately it is. 🫶
Nola, we ain’t taking any advice from Aaron Rodgers and especially health advice, right? I’ve disliked him as a player long before I knew I disliked him as a man.
My amendment, which attempted to add funds for summer EBT food benefits, failed in committee today. 670,000 of our most vulnerable children would have benefitted from this.
There have been a few asking how I know kids will go hungry this summer. Here’s how I know. I’m not even hating. I can get along with a rock but these are the facts.
Our goal is 60,000 meals over the summer. Couldn’t have done the first week without my incredible team! Those who donated and volunteered to deliver, THANK YOU!!! This is no small task for our restaurant. 👊🏻
Jazz Fest is over for me. I’m dead fucking tired from working. Bingo has been won by our GM, Molly. And a customer named Fox McRaccoon who is apparently a raccoon emissary was a highlight. Y’all enjoy the last day. I’m drinking a daiquiri on the couch.
As severe weather shut down nearly every government entity in Louisiana Wednesday, a legislative committee met and quietly advanced two pieces of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

It’s overwhelming to see how quickly the sign up form is filling up for families in need. Anyone telling us the kids will be fine and it’s not an issue isn’t seeing and hearing what we are seeing &hearing. I can’t thank yall enough for everyone’s support. We are going to need it
Galatoires Friday lunch really is its own thing. It’s really fun to show out of town visitors. Not so fun right now, the headache from the after party at my house.
I love the New Orleans Women’s and Children’s shelter for many reasons but mostly they don’t separate fathers from families when entering the shelter. The only one in the south. We are auctioning off a dinner in your home for ten with pairings. Bid here.
Louisiana has nation's highest poverty rate, ranked worst state for working women. Today lawmakers killed min wage/equal pay bills, advanced measures to reduce unemployment benefits, repeal lunchbreak for working teens

The federal government should provide much-needed relief to our domestic crawfish industry. I call on our federal delegation to assist me in helping our crawfish farmers.
Every time Team Toups picks up a cause I’m blown away by the immediate support we receive. Truly thank you for your help, thank you for your words of encouragement. Nola for life. 👊🏻
All of Team Toups is on board. If you’re in need please reach out and we will provide you the groceries for Christmas dinner. If you’d like to help us feed more people, we happily will expand.

So anyways. I’m a new tree dad. Two LSU figs, Meyer lemon and a satsuma. Doing tons of research and going well but give me your recs. Also can I grow giant sunflowers in my yard?
Shaming your representatives does sometimes work. We will still be bridging the gap as much as we can over the summer as a max of $120 will not be enough for hundreds of families to get by here in New Orleans. Nola will come together like we always do.
The Louisiana House Appropriations Committee has added money for the summer SNAP (food) program for children that

Amanda in the press again!
Today is the last day to sign up if you’re a food insecure family with children in the household. We will start a waitlist and contact y’all day of as we know what’s available.
@BigEasyConserv
Yes I would feed you for free if you were in need. You would eat what me and my staff eat everyday, which is family meal. Thank you for coming in. We really appreciate that.
Im more of a pot smoker for my high. I actually don’t enjoy my wife in tears everyday after interacting with mothers in need because I’m not an asshole.

They don’t want to fix the problem. They get high off playing savior and you can’t be the savior if there’s no one that needs saving.
69lbs of crawfish, a sack of Murders to shuck, sack of little necks and some biganos to boil and toss in XO butter. Porgy’s coming in strong as always!
It’s that time. We will be feeding food insecure families Easter dinner so we can assess how many meals we will need to provide households through the summer. If you can help please donate. If you can drive and deliver the meals link in comments. Thank you either way.
I want to give a shout out to the racetrack gas station in Slidell. It’s where my in-laws and us exchange kids. THEY HAVE A BOILED PEANUT BAR and real decent tamales. Louisiana is undefeated on gas station food.
It would have cost Louisiana $6 per eligible child to provide summer food benefits for 594,000 poor children . Landry admin. said "No" wants to focus on self sufficiency. . . . by children?

@IlluminatorLA
Cajun man here! We season the water and then layer in an ice chest, crawfish, fresh squeezed citrus, layer of seasoning, repeat. Then we shake the shit out the ice chest let rest. Crawfish suck up citrus and seasoning.
I hate when people see a REAL crawfish boil and ask “where’s the seasoning?” IN THE WATER YOU BOIL IT IN! Why would you put it on the outside of the shell? 🤬🤬
Amanda is on PBS talking about how we are going to feed the kids over Easter and this summer with our Family Meal program. Give her a listen. Momma makes good sense.
@IsaacToups
Your child's mental struggles shouldn't be forced down everyone else's throat. Maybe private counseling sessions would be a better arena for your family rather than public schools...
Louisiana jumbo lump crab cacio Pepe for dinner. Had a glass of wine, forgot the cauliflower that is the inferno I call my oven. Welp. No veggies tonight kids!
I’m going to cook burgers and swim with my family and friends today and enjoy this beautiful Nola weather.
If you’re around a tv catch me stop Amanda from cursing Landry over the refusal of funds to feed kids on wgno at 5&10pm! I’m sure that part was edited!
Well, what’s cookin’, good lookin’? It’s our new cookbook! I wrote this book with my sister, Rachel, who might just be the best cook I know. If you’re like us, you believe that good food and good times are the next best thing to pure love. So take a journey with us, into the
