ISA President @MarijkeBreuning delivered her presidential address during our Friday reception. Her topic? "The Importance of Teaching International Studies in Complicated Times," focusing on the importance of international studies in creating a well-rounded civic education.

And on to Danielle Lupton of Colgate University, one of the co-winners (along with Clayton Webb, University of Kansas) of the Frank J. Klingberg Award For Best Paper Presented by a Faculty Member. Danielle also took part in our editors roundtable this year.

Acceptance emails for the 2024 Conference are about to go out, but in the meantime, you can apply for one of our travel grants! Funding priority will be given to students and untenured/contingent faculty. The deadline to apply is Friday, Sept 27.

Space is limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. We will accept applicants until all spots are filled, but those who sign up by August 1 will have their names listed in the conference program as participants (to help with travel reimbursements).

Workshop 2 is the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) Education Simulations, hosted by Jean Abshire, It introduces participants to CFR Education's open educational resources (OER) and has them participate in a live role-playing experience that can be adapted to their classrooms.

Workshop 1 is the Visual International Relations Project (VIRP), hosted by Patrick James. Participants will learn how to diagram academic works using the systemist method. Diagrams produced at this workshop will be published on the VIRP website.
