I relate to this! . I had pretty bad social anxiety for a long time. An event from some months ago made me realize that this anxiety stems from attempting to control what others think of me; any situation where I am explicitly not attempting to gain approval, I'm fine. 1/.
the most grating, useless (directionally correct) piece of advice i ever got was "get out of your head". throughout my 20s it was the most common feedback i got & always made my blood boil. how i got out of my head, and why "get out of your head" is a worthless string of words 🧵.
