This is the current Manor House in the village of Amcotts. It is thought to date from around the 1850's, however, alterations to rear of the building uncovered wattle and daub which suggests a building stood on this site since the 16th century. #amcotts #manorhouse #history

Work continues at the Neolithic House on Hatfield Moors. The community of builders have been preparing wood and reeds for the roof. Next time we'll be working on thatching the roof and wattle and daub for the walls. Want to get involved? We still have room for more volunteers

This is the former church school in Owston Ferry, built in 1842 with room for 150 children. The sign above the door still shows the boys entrance although the sign for the girl's entrance has now been replaced with a house number. #owstonferry #history #school

Like this one in Wroot there are thousands of beacons across the UK, Channel Isles, Isle of Man and other UK oversea territories. Mostly used to celebrate royal occasions as well as milestones. The tradition dates from Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. #history #beacons
