Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 2.8 million tons in January, an increase of 12.4 percent compared to 2023. Loadings were also above the month’s 5-year average by 24.4 percent.

I took a trip up to Duluth this off-season to visit the M/V Mesabi Miner. I thought they’d give me a ride to the Iron Range. Instead I was put to work in a variety of roles. Even inspecting the 260 ft boom out over Duluth Harbor! Fun time, thanks for having me @InterlakeSSCo!
