Kudo's for PhD researcher @FemkeLoose who developed a theoretical model in regard to preschool children's advertising processing #proudsupervisor (4/4).

We also explored the role of the parents. In line with prior studies, some children appeared to be less knowledgable about advertising when their parents reported a restrictive parenting style (incl rules and technical restrictions) (3/4).

TV ads and prerolls are easier to recognize since they often use a voice-over or show a skip botton. Influencer marketing, however, challenges young children as they are very familiar with the format and advertising-related cues within the vlogs are mostly absent (2/4).

New research🎉 Young Consumers published our interview study on preschoolers and advertising. While preschool children show a basic understanding of TV and preroll advertising, they were not able to recognize nor understand a sponsored vlog (1/4).

Public social media images can be used by others, beyond control of the original profile. Here, the loss of control resulted in a highly interesting art project. Sadly, our research regarding children and sharenting points out to more maliscious threats, including peadophila.

Interested in our kidfluencer research project? @vdaelisabeth and I were interviewed about our @AdScholar research paper in which we investigated how kidfluencers’s online identity is created, and which role their parents play.

Op 1 sept. posten veel ouders in België foto’s van de eerste schooldag op sociale media. Maar het delen van foto’s stelt kinderen bloot aan (privacy)risico’s. Gebaseerd op wetenschappelijk onderzoek ontwikkelden we met tips en info hieromtrent voor ouders.
