In western thought it is often ignored or it is said that it can't be spoken of so we focus on things that can be spoken of. In Buddhism and in truth Reality is beyond words and concepts. Words and concepts never completely capture any nature of reality.

Socrates in Cratylus comes to the same understanding as Buddha and Buddhism. In Buddhism this realization became a foundational point of emptiness. Words not connected to essences Buddhism takes it to words concepts do not connect to essences.
