Comparing reported and direct advocacy revealed. 🟢NatWest & Lloyds supported science-aligned policy privately, but were less clearly supportive in public statements.🛑 Barclays publicly reported greater support for policies than it showed in direct communications with government

🌱🏭It showed that Barclays, HSBC & Lloyds consistently directed more financing to fossil fuel companies than green companies by significant margins from 2020 to 2024. NatWest bucked this trend, financing green companies over fossil fuel companies at an average ratio of 1.5 to 1

Our latest research reveals a shift in large EU companies supporting science-aligned climate policy over the last 5 years. 📈Companies with science-aligned advocacy increased 3% ➡️ 23%.📉Companies with misaligned advocacy dropped 34% ➡️ 13%. Read more:
