Last month, MI Trolley, the new public transit system serving the communities of Monmouth and Independence, made its debut during a sneak peek event that included local elected officials. MI Trolley will begin service in early 2023.

TRAFFIC NOTICE: Road work on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, between 9 AM - 3 PM will include paving at the intersection of South Main Street and D Street/Osprey Lane. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic, although alternate routes are encouraged, such as E Street.

The intersection of 4th and C Street, right by Independence Elementary School, is now an all-way stop-controlled crossroad. Traffic Control Change Ahead signs, supplemental stop bars, road paint, and fold-out stop signs have been posted. Read more here:

Parking will no longer be allowed on the Eastside (closest to the river) of Osprey Lane in Independence, Oregon. This change has been made due to the lack of firetruck mobility on Osprey Lane and to increase safety among tenants and residents alike.
