Custom blocks in themes will not pass #WordPress theme review, but you can still customize core blocks! You can do a lot with a className. But if you're building a plugin, you have @justintadlock's permission to go wild, use custom attributes even. #WebDev #Gutenberg #podcast

The Core Fields API is agnostic to the front end markup. This is critical during a time of profound change in the #WordPress admin UI experience. It's time for a refactor. @scottkclark is looking for people to get involved, at minimum backing the idea as suitable for core.
