Did you know that Illini Service Dogs is fully run by student volunteers? Our wonderful members donate their time to help train and care for our service dogs in training and help educate the community on being a disability advocate 🐾

Did you know that ISD trains our dogs all the way from puppyhood to placement, meaning we keep our dogs throughout their entire training process? This is just one of the ways Illini Service Dogs stands out from other service dog organizations!

One semester, we made it four weeks into classes before the professor walked up the aisle and noticed I had a service dog in training laying at my feet. It’s been a pleasure to see ISD continue to develop over time, and I’m excited to see what’s next!”

I always enjoyed when I took the dogs in public and as we leave, people around us realize there had been a dog there the entire time. I usually arrived early to my classes, so I’d get seated with whatever dog I had (typically Abe or Busey) before the professor walked it.

“I’ve been a volunteer with ISD for almost 9 years, and it’s flown by quickly! I joined ISD as a student volunteer and handler on campus, and later our Board of Directors shortly after graduating. Our organization (both dogs and humans) was a huge part of my college experience!
