Fortunate to hear about how, among other things, Kenji Iwaisawa was drawn to rotoscoping as a middle ground between live action and animation. Glad he got to make a movie with more resources available to him than with On-Gaku!

Hyakuemu was exceptional, probably up there in terms of sports anime for me. Thought Kenji Iwaisawa’s raw directorial style and deadpan sense of humor were a great fit for Uoto’s story, and I always resonate with reflections on the purpose of sport and competition

Our Madhouse episode is here! As expected, it was incredibly difficult to rank our favorites given the studio’s history and catalog but we gave it our best

Infinity Castle was about what I expected it would be? Fun to see in a theater because of the sheer spectacle of its production, but also subject to the usual Demon Slayer formula for better and worse
