The way laying down and doing nothing for several hours a day is just fixing all my emotional issues rn. I wish I had started doing noting years ago.

@BeraHugs reminded me that they have to pay money to go to college in the US and I guess that explains a thing or two?!

Even my eastern European friends who grew up so poor they sometimes didn't have access to heating or electricity as kids spend less time in the hungry ghost realms than seems to be normal and expected for average middle class Americans?!

It's remarkable to me how Americans manage to live in large houses and drive big cars and tend to have attitudes towards money that remind me much more of people from India or African countries than what I'm used to.

But as a Rawlsian, I kinda begin to think the European way is just objectively better, regardless of how stuffy and paralyzing it can feel when I'm on the inside?!

I really enjoy the warmth of the people here, and the laypeople culture that makes it much easier to build an try things. Europe's regulations set both minimum and maximum quality bars for everything, neither of which exist here.

It's almost as if libertarians *like* and are proud of everything going to shit. The more unhappy people are, the more bullshit solutions to their problems you can sell them or something like that? Please explain yourself, Americans.

It certainly doesn't make the streets nicer and safer. And: Humanity currently heads towards a variety of extinction-level catastrophes. None of them are underway because people in general are too unproductive and need to be motivated into producing and consuming more.

I also genuinely don't understand where that resentment for the welfare state comes from. I genuinely don't believe that the homelessness, fent, and meth epidemic costs the US less than Germany's 1000β¬ per month per unemployed person with healthcare and everything included.

On the two organic farms I worked on during the past year, the owners just barely needed to buy new clothes either for themselves or the kids because their customers would just leave them stuff as expressions of gratitude. You don't need a smoking while plowing a field.

It's almost as if the Americans had invested utmost ingenuity into destroying their commons and now take some kind of pride in paying money for a lot of things that were simply free when I was a kid.

Being in the US and reading how people here discuss living standards sometimes makes me feel like I have to be ashamed of having worn used clothes and played with used toys as a kid, as if that's a sign of degeneracy and despondency.

I'd usually use up my older brother's old stuff when I was a kid. Clothes, bicycles, toys often used from the village flea market. Why not?

We lived in my grandparents' house on a beautiful hill. Mom did pay rent from her measly salary, but she also had free unlimited babysitting. I remember how my grandmother would give us homemade sweet berry juice while we cleaned beans that she harvested in her garden.

My mom raised two sons on a part-time office clerk job and I never really felt poor as a kid except that one summer when all the other kids in my village randomly got brand new mountain bikes

I'm very confused by how Americans relate to money and consumption

I gotta keep reminding myself that this stuff around "you gotta make at least 150k to start a family" is an American quirk and it's perfectly possible to raise happy healthy kids on welfare level income in central Europe

I've been in the internet for like 48 hours and despite minor benefits I might have to leave. Watched this Selena Gomez video, besides a few weird derp shots that ppl were able to clip and super misrepresent how she looks she looks extremely beautiful, is prob one of the most
How come in South Korea every woman with an extra $5 k can get effortless hotification surgery on demand but in the US you have millionaire celebrities going under the knife with a 50/50 chance they'll come out looking like an X Files monster of the week
