Also it’s important to note I’m NOT Hawaiian, so if I got anything wrong or if things need to be changed Im sorry!! I just wanted to redesign Mualani, along with a lot of other Genshin characters because despite so much potential, a lot of it isn’t fully realized or used wrong

Just to summarize the rest I gave a more traditional skirt (she is wearing shorts underneath fyi), changed her top to also look slightly more traditional but also look like a swim top, gave her muscles/a swimmer body, and changed up her tattoos/markings

A lot of traditional Hawaiian attire had things like that (I don’t know the name for them I’m sorry ): ) so I decided to add them!! I also removed all of the ‘ fish ‘ symbols on her body as they’re actually a reference to a racist symbol used towards native Hawaiians I believe

I also gave her curly and fluffy hair and it’s now a simple ponytail with no braids at the ends, just to make it more understandable. I also gave her leaves around her wrists and ankles because when I was looking up references-

I also wanted to make her more shark like so I gave her sharp teeth and bows/knots that look like a shark tail fins, including a long piece of clothing on the back of her skirt that’s meant to look like a shark tail, I always saw her as ‘ cute and tough ‘ so yeah it fits I think

The People of the Springs will get a killer tan in all of the surrounding areas and block out the areas and markings the tattoos will be, kinda like when you put stickers on your skin and go outside and leave a silly little mark

She’s still tanned but I decided to add my own personal headcanon to her, which is that people who have competed and gotten into the Night Warden Wars will be able to get special tattoos to represent their strength. All tribes follow this tradition in different ways-

When I first saw Mualani I didn’t know how to feel, although I was happy that she was tanner the fact that it’s ONLY a tan made me a bit disappointed,,and either way it wasn’t a major difference compared to most of the pasty white cast, so yeah she’s much darker now
