Bay Area-based freelance writer/reporter, formerly of @Nashvillebiz and @acornnewspaper. I still don't own a bathrobe
Joined August 2017
As a reporter I worry about a lot, like getting my facts wrong or misquoting someone. But I also live in perpetual fear of ending a phone call with a source by accidentally saying "I love you."

Life update: I quit my job in Nashville and moved to the Bay Area. Getting started writing freelance news/anything else I can get paid for. Feels good to be back in CA but this is going to be a long journey. Asking for any and all advice, connections, tips, etc. to help get going

The news about In-N-Out coming to Tennessee has reignited the debate about whether the chain is actually good or just hyped. As the only Californian in my newsroom I had to weigh in. My first column for @nashvillebiz

With the news the company is expanding to TN, I’ve been fielding a few questions from my coworkers about In-N-Out. What do you think? Is the burger really that good? or is it all hype? https://t.co/yggZgv20Qp

I consider Dawn a friend and I’m still a little scared of her, which is why I know she’s going to be a killer watchdog reporter. Ventura county is on notice.
Breaking news: Today is my first day as an investigative and watchdog reporter at @vcstar. I’ll be focused on holding public officials and civic leaders accountable, exposing injustices and abuse of power, and shedding light on challenges faced by Ventura County residents.

The Buffalo shooter had 14 on his gun, a reference to the 14 words, a white supremacy slogan. The 14 words were recently unfurled over the 101 in TO. I wrote about something that's been bothering me: Why did a hate group feel comfortable unfurling racist banners in our community?

It’d be interesting to see how many people are turning to non-traditional housing situations as a means of coping, and what those situations are
Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Ventura are now ranked as the third least affordable metro area in the country. Rents have risen 19% since 2019. Half of renters in T.O. are "rent-burdened." The affordability crisis hits home for working, middle-class families. https://t.co/59dU1QWFrq

It's 44°C in Delhi today 🥵 Yesterday, bad planning + phone blooper meant I was out in the scorching heat from 12-3pm. Tried taking a bus. The only AC one that came was full to the brim (COVID super spreader anyone?). The non AC bus was emptier but so hot. I took it. (1)

Apparently part of keeping your pipes from freezing involves “dripping” them overnight (more of a stream than a drip 🤷♂️). I’m not in California anymore but I’m used to drought conditions so this feels deeply uncomfortable to me.
