If you are a founder of a product/effort, you likely have an intensity and focus associated with that product and your worldview that is hard to reproduce. One of the constant struggles is knowing when to bring someone on to start carrying the ball. You necessarily cannot scale.

It’s very difficult to communicate the importance of non-conformity and irreverence because they naturally have a stigma. Going against the herd is never virtuous until it means the discovery of America or the birth of Protestantism, where the creation is then taken for granted.

I get the sense that people think I write to idk have a blog or something and grow a following. I’ve never thought about that once. I write because it is the most personally rewarding exercise I have ever found. Helps you think, and I constantly re-read my old writings to learn.

If they were to train on all of our data that we’ve spit into their apps, they would then have a learned database about everything about you and every other person on planet earth. That’s not crazy that’s just reality.

I don’t know if you’ve caught on yet but we’re nowhere near superintelligence. These models are just really complex databases of vector programs that can approximate intelligence for things it has already been trained on.

Sometimes it feels like Sam Altman et al. warning of AGI is just a distraction from the risk that is already here with these models. If you’ve used them, these AI companies already know nearly everything about you. The panopticon is here.
