The min. wage is key in raising the labour income share. There is also the need for other mechanisms such as the progressive wage policy &the improvement of skills. SMEs are unable to pay higher wages because of the economic structure reliant on low value-added economic activity.

There is a tri-paradox in Malaysia: .1. There are more jobs than workers, but wages are still low .2. Industry needs skilled workers, but skill-related underemployment is still high .3. There are 300k university graduates & 100k TVET graduates, but only 50k high-skilled jobs.

If #climatechange is fire then inequality is the fuel. Planetary health is not just an academic framework but security imperative. Gov't cannot work in silos. We need to invest in resilience and not just response; prevent crisis by healing systems.

There will be an exacerbation of these conditions if we respond inadequately to these impacts. The ability to address and confront will go a long way to be more adaptive and focused; targeted interventions to deal with compounding security impacts of climate change.
