He builds theory by translating biological hypotheses to mathematical models, using modern inference to fit them to population, demographic, behavioural and physiological data, and applying the conclusions to wildlife conservation, natural resource management and risk assessment.

Previous workshops covered models for eDNA, animal movement, hierarchical Bayesian models, NIMBLE, Stan, INLA, space/habitat use, species distribution models, hidden Markov models + other Markov-switching structures, and generalized additive models.

Awesome time last week at @ISEC_stats_ecol ! Presented 2 talks (covering 3 chapters of my PhD 🤯) and listened to so many cool speakers talk about all things statistical ecology - lots to think about 🤔 Great to see lots of stuff with step selection functions too!!
