Today, many countries have specific days dedicated to raising awareness about bullying prevention, kindness, and inclusion. In Canada, students from kindergarten to high school graduation have been exposed to the message of Pink Shirt Day.

In 2012, the United Nations designated May 4th as Anti-Bullying Day, and in Canada, the last Wednesday of February became the national Pink Shirt/anti-bullying day.

In honor of the Berwick event, Nova Scotia designated the second Thursday of September as "Stand Up Against Bullying Day." Subsequently, in 2008, British Columbia declared February 27th as the provincial anti-bullying day, sparking a growing movement.

The following day, they were pleasantly surprised to see the majority of students showing up in pink. This act of kindness led to the creation of Pink Shirt Day.
