From the beginning, we wanted all these tools to be adaptable to multiple scenarios and countries. Why? Currently, emergency management is fragmented around Europe: each country has its own. But a flood or a wildfire doesn’t stop at any border!

These are all tools especially useful for emergency managers. But we wanted to encompass society as a whole. We have managed to develop an app that helps citizens share reports and provides them with tips & quizzes on what to do during floods, fires & other disasters.

We have managed to design and implement a machine learning algorithm that filters relevant tweets for emergency managers.

It integrates data from: satellites, weather forecast, climate change models, historical data… and Social Media as well, as sometimes it is the best way to gather information.

As promised in the project proposal we have successfully created a Big Data platform for disaster management that is centralised, modular and interoperable.
