Thank you to all who have been conserving energy today! Please continue reducing power as we head into a peak demand time this evening. When everyone pitches in with small reductions, it adds up to make a major difference and helps prevent emergency outages.
OUTAGE UPDATE: We have restored power to thousands of customers over the course of the day, but the sustained high winds continue to cause additional outages. More than 400 employees and contractors will continue working 16-hour shifts into the night to get the lights back on.
OUTAGE UPDATE: Most of the outages in SW Michigan are due to unprecedented flooding at a local substation, which is affecting three other area stations and 14,500+ customers. Customers should be prepared to be without power until at least this evening.
The Fort Wayne area is getting hit hard with heavy storms. As of 10:40PM, we have 14,000+ customers without power. More severe weather is expected through the night. As it becomes safe, crews will begin to address issues.

Crews are out in full force working on restoring power. You may not see our trucks or crews, as many of the outages are off main roads and in backyards, but they're hard at work to get everyone back on as quickly and safely as possible.

More than 20% of nearly 52,000 who lost power from yesterday's wind storm have been restored. Hundreds are working to get the lights on ASAP, but given widespread, extensive damage, this will likely be a multi-day restoration. We'll keep you updated.
If you're near Fort Wayne tomorrow, stop downtown to see the fireworks launching from Indiana Michigan Power Center! The display starts at 10 p.m., or immediately following the conclusion of the TinCaps game.
OUTAGE UPDATE: We've restored power to more than 7,000 customers today, but the wind continues to cause additional outages and slow the restoration. Crews will continue to work into the night, but we won't be able to get everyone's power back on this evening.
Tomorrow is National Linemen Appreciation Day. Day or night, rain, snow or shine, they answer the call to keep the power flowing so we can all live our lives. If you see crews out and about, a smile and wave (from a safe distance) can go a long way.
