We definitely need MLB players in the Olympics. As the game continues to grow in new countries, getting a platform as big as the Olympics would only help to expose the game to new audiences who would otherwise not watch baseball. We need more international baseball.

Hoping there will be video soon but Armstrong Muhoozi hit his first home run today and had another multi-hit game and now up to an .828 OPS. He should be in the Florida Complex League in 2026. It would be cool as hell if he plays for Uganda at the African Championship next year.

Should have rephrased this but obviously the US is already in. So, it is for *5* spots. There will be a few top 10 ranked nations that won’t make it. Insanely competitive and national teams should make every effort to send the possible team to “smaller” tournaments.
Officially 6 teams in the Olympics for 2028 but that isn’t a surprise. MLB players will definitely be there, IMO. Olympic pre-qualification officially begins this November at the Copa América and December at the Caribbean Baseball Cup. Over 100 national teams for 6 spots.

With the Caribbean Baseball Cup being an Olympic pre-qualifier, nations like Jamaica/Haiti could see the revival of their national team and it will be the biggest event The Bahamas has ever hosted. That’s massive.

In many ways, Olympic qualification in baseball is much more intriguing than WBC qualification. No arbitrary invitation process and every national team from Benin to Japan can play their way to LA in 2028. That’s what national team sports is about.

Charles Davalan is somebody who maybe not on Canada’s 2026 WBC squad but could be on their Copa América roster this November for Olympic qualification and good chance he’ll be in contention for a spot in the next WBC(likely 2029).

One of the early storylines in the WBC should LGJ play is Panama’s opening game is against Cuba. It would mark the first time an MLB player that has defected from Cuba is representing another national team while playing against Cuba in WBC history.
