With contributions from IITs, NITs, Madras Medical College, UFZ, TROPOS, DLR, University of Münster, Coburg University, CASUS and several start-ups, the IGSTC-funded workshop showcased the strength of Indo-German cooperation in advancing exposure science and urban sustainability.

The workshop also resulted in a collective commitment to prepare a joint position paper summarising the scientific and technical insights gained, laying the groundwork for future Indo-German project proposals.

The discussions sparked strong collaborative momentum, with participants identifying several promising directions for new research partnerships and agreeing to jointly develop a structured framework that integrates sensor technologies with receptor modelling.

Participants examined how personal exposure to environmental stressors can be measured using wearable sensors, interpreted through receptor modelling techniques, and deeply analysed through AI and data-mining approaches, reflecting a truly interdisciplinary 🇮🇳-🇩🇪 collaboration.

Led by Prof. Shiva Nagendra S M of IIT Madras and Prof. Uwe Schlink of Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Leipzig, the workshop brought together an exceptional group of scientists, engineers, data specialists, clinicians, and innovators from premier institutions.

Indo-German Workshop on Receptor Modelling and Technical Solutions concluded with three days of dynamic interaction and collaborative exploration at IIT Madras. Funded by the IGSTC, the workshop underscored the Centre’s commitment to enabling impactful bilateral research.
