At the halfway point at #COP30 in Brazil I spoke at the Ministerial Event which focused on the Belém Pledge to quadruple global use of sustainable fuels by 2035. This was an opportunity to present IMO’s #decarbonization goals & highlight our commitment to a sustainable shipping.

At #COP30, protecting forests, oceans, and biodiversity is front and centre. These issues are closely linked to #IMO’s work in safeguarding the marine environment for a sustainable future. 🌊

In the margins of #COP30 in Belem, I was honored to be hosted by the Brazilian Navy. I visited two vessels: the flagship multi-purpose aircraft carrier NAM Atlântico & Brazil's largest Navy Research Vessel, Vital de Oliveira. Insightful visit on #maritimesecurity & ocean science.

The #COP30 focus on people is perfectly aligned with IMO’s priority: seafarers and attracting the next generation. We drive this work through enhanced #security, #digitalization, and #decarbonization. Strong synergy between COP and IMO.
