Funnily enough, I worked quite a lot with these SCALS during my PhD with @SWPrescott, @andyfaff, Zengyi Wei and Anh Phong Dang (we called them 'PDMS brushes') without knowing it! Small world. .

Highlights include:.- Wigglyness is important, but the time/length scale is unclear.- 'liquid likeness' is maximised at intermediate thickness, grafting density, and chain length.- They're slippery in both good and bad solvents.- Hydrophilic surfaces can be slippery too!.

These layers are really slippery , so we call the 'Slippery covalently attached liquid surfaces', or SCALS. This is a little contentious (in fact, it's a section in the review).
