Mars and Venus are passing close to each other in the sky and will be only 0.5 deg (as wide as the size of the Moon) on 13 July. The Moon will also be close to them on 12 July. This is a naked eye event, so go out and see them every evening from today. We bring you 12 posters!
Today’s event was a grand success with lot of coordinated efforts put in by our teams at various locations. We also thank the “Clouds” for cooperating in witnessing this phenomenon. Please see the combination of various images taken from Bengaluru, Hoskote and Leh campus (1/2)
We can see a

tomorrow when the moon rises at sunset. NE India will see a total eclipse & for a longer duration, and the rest of India will see a partial eclipse & for lesser duration. Our poster explains all this. Do share!

Many of you in Bengaluru might have seen this beautiful coloured ring around the Sun today. This is the famous 22-degree

He was a colossus in the field of history of astronomy in India, and played a key role in various IAU history commissions. His scholarship & wit will be sorely missed.
