It ought to be easy To find someone Who sees your wounding Who, heaving, sits down beside you Who will share with you Their many deaths Stanch their bleeding As if it were yours

My Ferrari remains buried, which is beside the Maserati. I'll get to those later.

Outside, right now: "I, Hatchet Jack, being of sound mind and broke legs, do hereby leaveth my bear rifle to whatever finds it. It is a good rifle, and killt the bear that killt me. Anyway, I am dead. Yours truly, Hatchet Jack."

Clearing my car off & shoveling the driveway is one thing. Being able to exit through the alley & to even drive anywhere on the side or main streets here in Toronto is a whole different matter. I might just save myself some energy by not even bothering. #ONStorm

Just ventured out into the snow here in Toronto. Had to turn back after walking a block because the snow was blowing so hard that I couldn't see. The pictures don't do it justice. #ONStorm

My dad was a food engineer, and always talked about food science. He ran a chocolate factory, and I learned from a young age all about the complex science involved in producing confectionery.

My favourite food science tip: if you want to caramelize onions quickly, add a pinch of baking soda. This will raise the pH of the cooking solution, making it more alkaline, thereby increasing the rate of the Maillard reaction - complex flavours emerge in the ensuing browning.

Every winter, a cross-country skating race is organised in the Netherlands. For the past 27 winters it hasn't happened. But a nation holds out hope.

I'm stocked up with supplies, I'm ready for a situation where I'm snowed in for a full month or more.

I went grocery shopping here in Toronto earlier this afternoon and it was really, really crowded. Never seen it like that. Like everyone's bracing for the apocalypse or societal collapse. Like another pandemic is coming. Everyone was shopping.

As a neuroscientist, the best way I've found to reset my nervous system is a bowl of my homemade potato salad in the shower in the dark. Just try it.
