Niek Kok, Marieke Zegers et al. conducted 62 serial interviews with 26 ICU professionals over the course of the #COVID19 pandemic and concluded that awareness about #moralinjury is needed. Moral injury differs from #burnout.

They found that patients with one phenotype particularly benefited from dexamethasone treatment, reflected by improved survival. This shows that phenotyping COVID19 patients may aid prognostication, prediction of treatment efficacy, and facilitation of personalized medicine.

In their latest publication, ICU researchers Aron Jansen, prof. Peter Pickkers and dr. @matthijskox82 demonstrate that results of these ex vivo or in vitro assays should be interpreted with caution, as they do not adequately reflect the in vivo immune response.
