Pitt RB Israel Abanikanda with an unofficial 4.41 40-yard dash and a 41” vertical at 5’10 5/8”, 217 pounds. Not often you can say a guy has home-run hitter athleticism and a workhorse’s frame, but Izzy checks both of those boxes.

Johnny Newton is one prospect I don’t get the NFL reservations on if he slips. Explosive, hyper-flexible, alignment-versatile, has speed-to-power, a counter arsenal, well-leveraged, strong one-gapper with discipline, football IQ, motor. One of those DTs you don’t overthink imo.

A lot to like about Drake Maye -- toughness, athleticism -- but my favorite trait of his is how he throws WRs open with his window anticipation, drive velocity, and angle freedom. High-level QB'ing traits that make me more comfortable weathering the volatile "young QB" moments.

Kaiir Elam to Buffalo is an awesome pick. Love his fit opposite Tre'Davious White. Long, explosive, fluid, and physical. Has the short-area athleticism to match receivers in man, and has the route recognition and closing speed to make plays in zone. Great ball skills, too.

Looking at the Washington Commanders' trade for Carson Wentz more and more, I think QB is off the table at 11. If you draft a QB there, you're almost admitting that Wentz is a one-year rental or bridge -- a role you could've had Taylor Heinicke play for free.

Utah safety Cole Bishop is flashing a ton watching Devin Lloyd. Was a freshman in 2021. Had 54 tackles, 9 TFLs, 3 sacks, and 5 deflections. Listed at 6'2", 205. I got this guy circled in the future, along with Clark Phillips III. Utah has some *dudes* in the secondary.

It's clear that the same recruiting preferences that led Ohio State to Jaxon Smith-Njigba also led them to Emeka Egbuka. 6'1", 205. Can press into stems and use spatial manipulation, and has incredibly smooth change-of-direction. But I think he's more explosive than JSN:

A player I'll have circled leaving the NFL Combine is Washington LB Edefuan Ulofoshio. Didn't get around to watching his tape in-depth ahead of Indy, but a 4.56 40-yard dash and 39.5" vertical are eye-catching numbers. Veteran who logged 94 tackles, 8 TFLs, and 3 sacks in 2023.

Kyle Hamilton a little slower than expected at 4.59u. But remember -- Justin Simmons is a great example. Ran a 4.61, but had a 40-inch vertical and a 126-inch broad jump. Explosiveness > Top-end speed for safeties. And at 6'4", 220, 4.59 is more than fast enough.

Really physical rep here between Clemson WR Joseph Ngata and LSU CB Mekhi Garner. Ngata does a nice job widening Garner on the release and catches him flat-footed on the jam. Muscles away at the stem, but Garner recovers exceptionally well and contests the pass downfield.

If Kyle Smith made the #Redskins draft board like some have said, then he needs to stick around.

Watching Clemson EDGE Xavier Thomas at the @ShrineBowl has been eye-opening. On film, he's giving tackles fits with his combined explosiveness, flexibility, punch power, natural leverage, and relentless hands. Looks like his prime self. 6'2", 244. Pass-rush specialist upside.

Writing up Georgia WR Ladd McConkey's report, and it's just turning into an 1,000-word advertisement for the guy as an NFL wide receiver. So many little nuances in his game that make him an instant translatable pro.

The 2024 safety class gets a bad rap, but I think there's a good chance all of these guys will be stellar in the NFL: - Cooper DeJean (CB flex) - Tyler Nubin - Beau Brade - Dadrion Taylor-Demerson - Malik Mustapha - Javon Bullard - Jaden Hicks Plenty more beyond this group too.

Oregon WR Troy Franklin so far this year: 60 recs, 1,093 yards, 11 TDs. He's such a unique WR. There haven't been many 6'3", sub-190 WRs at the NFL level, but I think he has the tools to break the mold. Just landed on an exciting pro comparison for him. More to come at @PFN365 .

Updating LSU QB Jayden Daniels' evaluation today. Thinking he'll be locked in as my QB3. The arm isn't at Williams/Maye level, and still some room for growth as an anticipator. But if you want a platinum-grade big-play threat with progression and pocket instincts, he delivers.

Spending the day reviewing CFB Week 2. One of the first games I'm getting a second look at is Baylor-BYU. BYU OT Blake Freeland really stood out in this one. Very athletic, but also has natural power with his length. Replacing hands in pass pro, stacking upfield in the run game.

Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha ( #3 ) on back-to-back plays versus NC State: - Instant click-and-close from the slot in off-man coverage - Elite pre-snap recognition, and teleports to take away the angle upfield I'm going to be *very* high on this guy.

Two WRs I find myself thinking “These guys check a LOT more boxes than they get credit for” most often in the 2023 NFL Draft: Cedric Tillman and Jayden Reed. Right now, Tillman is my WR2 and I’m comfortable with that. Reed safely in my positional Top 10 as well.

My thoughts on this: - The Patrick Mahomes comparisons are unfair. Mahomes is on a GOAT trajectory. - Mahomes wasn't present-day Mahomes coming out of college. Even he needed time and support. - A prospect can be "not Patrick Mahomes" and still be a very, very good QB prospect.

Outstretched finger-tip grab by Brian Thomas Jr. while running close to full speed. One of the best in this class at attacking the ball while working on the vertical plane.

I feel like I should've been talking about this more, but #Redskins WR Robert Davis is an insane athlete. - 4.44 40-yard dash - 41-inch vertical - 11.3 foot broad jump - 4.28 shuttle time, 6.82 three-cone - All of this at 6'3", 220 Don't forget him.
