Today, 204 million people live in areas controlled or contested by armed groups, 30 million more than in 2021. Life in these areas means uncertainty, fear, and struggling to access essential services, while humanitarian organizations face obstacles to reach those most in need․

1/ Monté is impatiently waiting for his missing father to return. He often takes his father's binoculars, sits down in the depths of the garden, and stares into the distance for a long time.

Armed conflicts are not beyond the reach of the law. Warring parties are not free to pursue victory at any cost, especially when it endangers civilians. Even wars have limits, always.
