If @UKLabour @Keir_Starmer wants to know what to do about universities: the first and easiest thing: re-introduce the cap on numbers that each university can take. It removes competition, and allows universities to plan because they know what numbers of students they will have.

This is so true. It is constantly presented as THE only option. Weak university leadership at a perilous time for us all will be the downfall of the sector.
Every announcement of a Voluntary Severance Scheme is copying from the same playbook referring to the 'sector-wide challenges'. They make it sound like redundancies and restructures are inevitable. We can keep questioning that narrative and develop alternative ones.
