Mirror Lake iced out on Monday, December 18, after massive rainstorms swept NH. This is the second unseasonal thaw since ice records began in 1965. The first occurred in 2018, sparking a paper by Likens et al (below). 📸 by Tammy Wooster.

Technicians Hannah Vollmer, Garrett Higgins, and site manager Ian Halm finished preparing Hubbard Brook’s nine weirs for winter this week! Each weir received a hood to allow for continued stream flow measurements during the winter, and precarious trees were cleared away:
