In all.our training & work with parents we make the link between ACEs & attachment, trauma, brain development, self-regulation, stress response, temperament, environment & relational health. ACEs don't occur in a vacuum & how they affect people or not depends on so many factors
Earlier this eve I tweeted that a @cisweb delegate had asked 2day with puzzlement why our public discourse isnβt linking ACES & attachment - & I said I wished we were. This new research paper illustrates why it makes complete sense to think in that way.

"This isn't about turning police officers into social workers, but most problems start in local communities and we need to look at an incident through an ACE lens.β Could we hope for a similar initiative with #AnGardaSiochana

Very proud to have carried out this work for @Oberstown1 - reveals the really complex nature of these young people's lives, and, actually, the real sadness in them as well. #shapinglivesbuildingfutures
Our Q1 2019 profile of young people in detention has been released on our website. The data contained in the Q1 Report highlights the range of issues facing young people who are in conflict with the law. See for yourself at https://t.co/osG4KtG4I4

We love this animation, so readily understandable #Trauma #Attunement #Attachment Sometimes we just need to learn about ourselves to heal #pooroutcomesarenotinevitable
We are really pleased to share our animation on the repair of intergenerational trauma, first screened at @ActionTrauma in 2018. Make a cup of tea, find a quiet moment and take in the important & powerful messages from the story youβll hear. View it here: https://t.co/lk4WWfYoNL

If you have been through trauma - as a child, I experienced some very extreme acts from an adult - remember this: itβs not the trauma that destroys you. Itβs the shame about the trauma. You have nothing to be ashamed of

Every young person in the care sector needs a positive role model to inspire them. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for a few passionate professionals who believed in me. #RoleModel #carehomekids #Inspire #believeinyourself #DreamBig

The ACEs work in Wales is being taken forward by the @acehubwales which was set up by Cymru Well Wales, and funded by @WelshGovernment and by @ACEsPoliceWales in the @ukhomeoffice funded programme for police and partners. Both are Wales wide!

Young people need adult connection so they do not fall through the attachment cracks. Who gets involved in gang violence ainβt no mistake or just about bad choices! Itβs why youth workers and mentors are critical to preventing young men from falling into dysfunctional gangs!
