Bearing in mind that a number of students and staff travel on foot or by public transport and would have difficulty getting to the Music Centre safely (or comfortably) tomorrow, it seems to make sense overall to remain closed, and to add an extra date later this term.

Paths close to the school are still very icy, and while the main roads are clear, many side roads in the area are not. The temperature is forecast to be minus 6 overnight, and will not get above freezing until around midday tomorrow.

Owing to the continued icy weather conditions, we have taken the decision not to open the Music Centre tomorrow. Although Horsforth School itself has been open this week, it has been closed for lettings and the car park is currently only partly accessible.

Our MINI MUSIC MAKERS classes are a fantastic introduction to music for younger children. The sessions use singing, percussion and other instruments to introduce children to musical concepts like pitch, rhythm and tempo in a fun and engaging way.

Tues 6th and Tues 13th Aug: percussion carousel - drum circle, Takio drums, steel pans and more!. Thurs 8th and Thurs 15th Aug: choir camp - vocal games, learning about harmony and technique, and most importantly singing some songs!.

Hope everyone's a great summer!. Spaces are still available on the sessions we will be running as part of Horsforth School's Summer Activity Camps. These are suitable for children aged 6-13 and will be running all day (with wraparound care if needed) on 6th/8th/13th/15th Aug. >>.

CONCERT BAND WORKSHOP DAY - sign up at We've already had a fantastic uptake for our Concert Band day on February 10th - however there's still room for more. We'd particularly love to hear from any percussionists or lower brass players. Spread the word!

Pay works out at approx £23-£25 per hour of teaching; we're hoping to have people in post straight after February half term. Please apply via (NB the ad wording is quite non-specific and covers our vacancies alongside those at several other Music Centres).

We're currently appointing for the following vacancies, to start asap:.* Piano Instructor x 2 (4 hrs each).* Woodwind Instructor (2 hrs, may increase over time).You'd be teaching a mix of 1:1 lessons & small group sessions to a mixture of children and adults on Saturday mornings.
