I’m generally pretty anti-expansion for the Big East, but I would at least listen to the pitch by Memphis and maybe VCU/SLU. Likelihood of this happening has to be <1%, right?.
If we assume that the urgency is at nuclear levels at Memphis, here’s what the Tigers should do: Take most of that money they were willing to give to the Big 12 and give it to the Big East. It’s time to rescue Memphis basketball.

The Big East will air on Fox, Peacock and now Turner and ESPN. ESPN is getting basically the leftover buy games not selected by other partners.

This works and is way better than flosports; 75 women’s basketball and 200 Olympic sports events will stream on ESPN+ annually beginning in the 2025-26 academic season. This deal will also include a minimum of 25 non-conference games annually for BIG EAST men’s basketball.
ESPN and the BIG EAST Conference have announced a new digital media rights agreement to stream on ESPN+ beginning in the 2025-26 season.

Wishful thinking, but is there a chance for the Big East - Big 12 challenge? Wasn’t the reason given for not renewing it that the Big 12 was going to 20 conference games?.
The Big 12 just confirmed the conference is going back to 18 league games for men's basketball.

The committee has tough decisions. No doubt about it. That being said, I’m going to stand up for our teams. Xavier and UConn will play anybody anyplace, anytime, anywhere. Our teams have chips on their shoulders. Now I have one on mine.
