The progenitor has been gifted the independent thought of the terminid hive, but it never turns down Hive-kin due to natural instinct. It can make sure these zerglings are given a genetic makeup which allows them pack mentality if they are ever cut off from the overmind.

Ah! The progenitor knows the feeling, it undergoes traits like that itself… but its knowledge allows it to aid in making the self-evolution less taxing. Not matter the ranking amongst the hive, the progenitor cares for all who seek his aid or biological assistance.
