Communities 🤝 Spaces
starting today we’re rolling out the Community Spaces test where some admins + mods will be able to host Spaces in their Communities
Communities are created and self-moderated by people on Twitter...maybe even you!
like if you’re passionate about birds of the Southern Hemisphere or soup, you could start a Community for that in the future (2/7)
you’ve been asking… and now we’re testing! some admins and mods with a Professional Account will be able to highlight one of their Communities on their profile 🤩
rolling out now on iOS and web, Android coming soon
Communities are invite-only (also for now!) but admins and moderators have unlimited invites and members have 5 invites per Community (again, for now!) that are sent via DM
so choose wisely (3/7)
we’re launching today with a handful of Communities BUT we expect (and want!) new ones to be created every week
our plan is to build & update Communities based on your feedback, so tell us how you *really* feel which honestly you’re already very good at doing (6/7)
we understand finding Communities can be hard — now it’s a little easier!
we’re starting to test the ability to search for Communities on web! try it and tell us what you think so we can better it for iOS and Android
those Tweets will show up in the Community and on your timeline (if you’re a member!)
HOWEVER, Communities are not private—they can be seen by anyone on Twitter, but only members can participate within the Community (5/7)
big day for admins—you can now add new moderators via the member list and remove existing ones!
available now on web via Admin Tools, iOS and Android coming soon
Communities are invite-only right now but, remember, when you join a Community you have 5 invites. and then those 5 people have 5 invites. and then those 5 people’s 5 people have 5 invites. and then
Video summary: upbeat music plays as Tweets searching for communities enter the screen. A Tweet is typed, the author selects a new menu & sends to a specific Community—Black Women Photographers. Icons of Black women, cameras & film symbolizing the conversation fill the screen.
love your Community but still want to see what else is out there?
we’ve launched a test to some people with the Communities tab to help discover new ones—if you see it, let us know what you think!
a new way to join Communities: request to join! now you can send a request to join a restricted Community for moderators to review ✅
admins still have the option to keep their Communities invite-only or open to all—the choice is yours! rolling out now on iOS & web

we can’t wait for everyone to have them and appreciate your patience
