Until lately I had 1- and 2-socket systems at home — now I won 8× Intel Xeon 8880v3 (100kg !) Lenovo x3950 X6 server on ebay for 399€, with 144C/288T. Power hungry, but the many cores I wanted. PassMark CPU Mark 75,582:.

Nice, first time seen mona-lisa100K.tsp problem with 100,000 cities (and 1,000 USD price money) with #Ruin and #Recreate #greedy solver (#monalisa, #combinatorial #optimization). Initial RR_all() took 301 seconds, more on that in work in progress #RR repo:

"n=11 square packing" 3D model. Minimal known size of the outer square is 3.877084× unit square. I was surprised that #3Dprint⁠ing with factor 3.8771 still allowed for the pieces to fit. Since this is rigid, a different configuration needed for <3.877084×.

Now my #AMD #Vega20 type #GPU⁠s (7× #Instinct #MI50, 1×#Radeon #pro #vii and 1× Radeon vii) totaling to 56.8 TFLOPs FP64. Six MI50s are outside of AMD 7950X (left) and AMD 7600X PCs with 1850W PSUs, 7th MI50 inside right PC (case holes for PSU cables) ….

Bedside lamp shade was broken, so I #3Dprinted a new one. Of course the #C60 #football #fullerene ;-) Since I had its exact 60 vertex coordinates from 3 #golden #ratio vectors in previous model, I used that as basis; and I like it, here #JSCAD share link:.

While single nail with hook seemed to be a good idea to fixate 92cm high #C60 #fullerene (#truncated #icosahedron) at wall, over time gravity did a great deformation. After hanging at ~3m high #screw #hook, top edge does not even touch ceiling! Lowest point 25cm above my head …

Right on track: at age of 60, 5/8/2025 was last workday of active phase of early retirement, after working at IBM for 30 years. In addition to become student of mathematics, the EFF $150,000 prime number award sparked my interest in prime number proofs:.

After 18 days finally successfully executed first #OpenCL program on old #AMD #Radeon #RX 480 #GPU. Had to use "rocm/dev-ubuntu-18.04" from #dockerhub — nice! The "ROC_ENABLE_PRE_VEGA=1" was essential to get #ROCM working:.
