How does cartilage fail? We explore 3 possible mechanisms via FE: collagen fibril governed; brittle vs ductile failure as a function of loading rate; pressurization fragmentation vs strain-governed as a function of loading rate. In #JMBBM.

Oxygen tension alters the effect of impact loading on cartilage redox balance, with cartilage under low oxygen tension less affected by impact loading than cartilage under room oxygen tension. Check out Jingyi's poster video: https://t.co/oKeruyVaB4
