Wednesday has been flowers, buds, blooms, much coffee, ginger shots and finishing, getting to the end of the marathon of recording my audio book. Four days of telling the story of my childhood in utopian commune: 'Home is Where We Start.' Wowza! Out with @FigTreePenguin in August

Your whole life, you read books by others, but you see nothing of yourself in them. So you decide to write it yourself. And one day, it’s here, in your hands. It’s a proof copy, the cover is a placeholder, but the words are yours, the story is one only you can tell

"The best reading lessons never really finish ...": thank you @CarolAtherton8 for 'Reading Lessons' - an exquisite love letter to literature and a celebration of the deep humanity & under-valued significance of teachers. It's one of those life-affirming books.

If you want to treat an English teacher for birthday or some other reason, then buy them this beauty by Carol Atherton @CarolAtherton8. It is wonderful. I don’t think there’s a book like it that captures what being an English teacher is about. Such a rich, thoughtful book.

Bravo @CarolAtherton8! What a stunningly good book - powerful, passionate, erudite, entertaining & a vital reminder of why books & English matter. It should be required reading on every English ITT course & on every education policy maker’s reading list.
