I am happy to say that because of vaccines, I am recovering at home. My lungs just needed a little boost (I don’t have asthma regularly before you ask). It’s scary and a little bit traumatizing, and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone…not even those who won’t get vaccinated. Be well.

This blew up way more than I intended it to. I hate being the Center of attention. I just wanted people to know that getting those vaccines and boosters are important! Because while I am sick, the staff has also comforted me that I will also recover. Thank you for the love.

Double vaccinated + a booster. Avoided gatherings and only saw my sister over Christmas who was asymptomatic. Now I’m sitting in the hospital after hugging my kids goodbye in case I don’t go home. Don’t be fooled - this new variant isn’t mild.

He plays for the NSA. He’s incredibly healthy. He didn’t yet qualify for a third booster. He’s got a fever, cough, and he can’t make it up the stairs without being winded. Get vaccinated. I can’t imagine how much sicker he would have been without it.

Despite keeping our groups small (we visited with my mom and sister 1 time who had no symptoms when we did), we all have Covid. We are mostly doing okay. Fevers, mild cough. Except for my lacrosse-playing 15 y/o who had his second vaccine in June.

We will have to restrain the loudness of our voices, the suddenness of our movements and the intensity of our emotions if we are to provide a safe place for the scared, the suffering, the traumatized and the silenced.

Triple vaxxed and the kids are double and single vaxxed (per age). If we were going to catch Covid, at least it’s when we have some protection.

6 y/o who has Apraxia told me tonight that he doesn’t like Christmas flavoured toothpaste. If you’re wondering, Christmas tastes like mint which probably reminds him of candy canes. And it’s really cool to hear my kid verbalize his connections.

First semester of grad school is done! For the past 15 weeks, I have worked full-time, attended school full-time, and continued to raise 3 kids. Now, I rest.

I didn’t know anti-self-help books I was until today when my client mentioned reading them to find herself. My response: leave those books alone. Read poetry instead. Everything you ever need to know is in verse.

Real life dinner conversation from the 10 y/o: I had to do a test today and the teacher wouldn’t even let me google the answers! Me neither, kid. 😂

Reasons why my kids are crying: 10 wants to do harder math because multiplication isn’t hard enough and 6 wants to do Grade 5 math when he’s barely figured out Grade 1 math. 😳

Yes, I do empathize. I’m hoping it isn’t always like this, though.

My daughter hacked off half of her hair with scissors. Right after she got it cut professionally. I though that, at 10, we were past this phase.

I remember during 2nd year uni having a conversation about the purpose of children’s Bibles. Today, I watched a grown man (left school in elementary) clutch a graphic novel Bible to his chest because for the first time in his life, he can read it. Everything has a purpose.

Today my client picked up a pencil which means he feels comfortable enough to learn. Don’t underestimate simplicity when working with the severely traumatized. It’s everything.

For those suffering trauma, fewer words, quiet voices, patience, and pausing so as not to overwhelm are vital to our entering in so we do not bring further harm.

The most vulnerable thing that someone can ask is can you help me? It’s only that much more of a privilege to hear it when you know that anytime they asked it before, they heard no. Today, I had the honour of saying yes.

I hopped on the Enneagram train and I’m an 8. Suddenly, it all makes sense. 😂
