And a lot of creative frustration comes from when your taste outweighs your talent. So you either learn to make it work within your bounds or you try and push your bounds. Both of which are draining.

I realize "taste" is a bit ambiguous but I would say it's the difference between an idea in a vacuum which can seem valuable at many angles -vs- an idea once implemented, having now been grounded in reality, decisions made and limits reached.

As someone with moderate creative success I would not attribute it to my "ideas" being better than anyone else's. Instead, I think constantly refining a good "taste", coupled with the ability & privilege to motivate myself through creative rough patches, is key.

Withering Rooms is the best Indie game I've played in a while. It feels wrong to just say it's like Dark Souls + Silent Hill + Resident Evil + Eternal Darkness, etc. It is a game with clear predecessors but an identity and unique story of its own.
